The human amniotic membrane is a unique, thin collagen membrane obtained from the inner part of the placenta. This is the area where the human embryo grows and develops inside the uterus. The human amniotic membrane is composed of collagen layers that include: the basement membrane (amnion) and the stromal matrix (chorion). Minimal treatment procedures (patented PURION® process) preserve the natural biological properties of the amniotic membrane. The amniotic and chorionic layers contain a preserved ratio of naturally occurring growth factors.
Alograft AmnioFix® is intended for use as a barrier membrane in spinal operations where tissue scar reduction is important. In powder form, it is applied percutaneously to the site of injury.
Alograft EpiFix® is used to treat chronic and acute superficial and deep wounds, including diabetic foot ulcers, venous leg ulcers, arterial ulcers, bedsores, inflammatory ulcers, burns, Mohs surgery, scar revision, etc.
